The Khybers are a new gathering of like-minded musical faces from Medway, all with their own history leading to this album.
Three of The Khybers were in The Bresslaws, a noughties Medway Garage band who decided to write a whole Medway inspired album but never finished it. About ten years later, after only seeing each other at weddings, the occasional Medway Garage gig and the odd curry night chucked in for good measure, there occurred a convenient fusion between these three old Bresslaws and Kent soul band Aunt Nelly (two of which were in 90s Mod faves The Clique), with an ex-Skadekat thrown in too.
Together they have created a raw driven beat and hammond sound with a blend of Garage Punk and stomping Soul that excites with its catchy tunes and infectious hooks. It was this blend that recently delighted a crowd at the Dublin castle in Camden Town as The Khybers supported Medway Garage band The Len Price 3.
Fullalove Alley is a labour of love that started some years ago, as mentioned previously. Wanna know more about Medway? Well listen in. These 14 nuggets were recorded and engineered by Jim Riley at Ranscombe Studios in Rochester, Kent and the cover art was painted by Medway artist and Garage legend Wolf Howard.
The ninety-eighth release on Spinout Nuggets, this will be available via the label, the artist and all good record outlets whilst stocks last.
The Khybers have been described as, ‘like The Bresslaws… but more subtle’ and ‘like Aunt Nelly… but more Garage!’
